Martial Arts Teachers
Sifu Robert Moore
Sifu Moore has been a student of gungfu, qigong, and Zen for over
twenty years. His two principal martial arts teachers have been
Sifu David Mott, Director of the Cold Mountain School in Toronto,
Ontario and Grandmaster York Loo. Master Loo received instruction
from Yang Chen Fu and Wu Chian-Chyan. He also trained at Hwa Shan
Monastery. Sifu Moore was given transmission from Master Loo in
1986. Dr. Loo was a master healer in Chinese medical practice
(acupuncture, herbology, chi kung) as well as Western internal
medicine. The Gungfu programs at Aikido-Ai are committed to continuing
his teachings of the martial arts as essentially spiritual and
healing practices.
Sensei Frank McGouirk
Frank McGouirk brings to Whittier over 30 years of Aikido teaching
experience. He currently holds the rank of Shindoin 5th Degree
Black Belt in Aikido. He is the founder of the Aikido-Ai Inc.
of So. Calif. and is a lecturer on Self Defense at the Rio Hondo
College in Whittier. He has extensively trained in other Martial
Arts and holds a Red Sash in Gungfu and is a certified instructor
in the Chinese art of Taiji Quan. He frequently leads seminars
and retreats both in California as well as nationally.
