Financial Relationship

Although there is a suggested monthly membership contribution, no one is turned away from the Center due to lack of personal financial resources. However, a distinction should be made between individuals who either visit or practice regularly at the Zen Center, and those who wish to receive formal training in Zen. If you are visiting from another practice center and want to join us for group practice, feel free and feel no obligation other than realizing that we must cover the overhead of the physical location and the expenses for lighting, electricity and air-conditioning/heating. If you want to meditate with a group of like minded individuals, the center is available to you during all public practice periods. However, if you wish to become a Zen Student you should be prepared to support the group and the center; also realize that because the Center has no endowment or subsidies, it is supported entirely by membership contributions. GWZC was not set up to be a profitable endeavor; also please note that, none of the teachers or administrative positions receives a salary for their contributions to the Center; all work is performed on a purely voluntary basis. Membership dues are prepaid by the quarter, although you can also prepay by the month or year. Dues are payable to the Zen Center; and you will receive a quarterly statement of your dues position from the Zen Center as well as having on-line access 24 hours a day to your most current information on the Zen Center donor intranet.
